The language LEARN Games

The languages LEARN Games are game simulations where in 1.5 hours a simplified version of LEARN Game Entrepreneurship is played in a foreign language. There is a highly simplified version with only 3 colors for small groups (9 participants) and a version with 7 colors for larger groups (approx. 25 participants).

This involves LEGO building blocks (2×2 studs and 2×4 studs) and base plates. Fewer colors ensures that communication between the game participants is very fast. The communication is supported by a “word fan” (word fan) with various basic concepts and simple dialogues that are presented in a convenient, usable way.

In addition to the game simulation, all kinds of activities take place to stimulate the senses, so that people can more quickly remember the learning experiences. (reference creation is the name for this). So learn by constantly using all your senses. Feel, taste, smell, hear and see the foreign language and the accompanying culture while in the game simulations you always experience positive emotions in the deals you close. That works. You learn a basic vocabulary in a foreign language very quickly. For example, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Hindi and Russian, but also languages that are closer, such as German, English, Dutch, Drents or Frisian.

We also have experience in learning Dutch by status holders from many different languages at the same time. The word fan then contains various languages into one language: Dutch. (Amhari / NL, Persian / NL, French / NL, Russian / NL etc.)

The languages LEARN Games are supported with the learning software LE-Voculearn. The program VocuLearn offers the user the possibility to learn a large amount of “language data” in a systematic way. In most cases these will be words or phrases in a foreign language, but the program can also be used for very other topics, such as lists of medical terms and learning multiplication tables. Characteristic of Voculearn is the attention for reflection of the acquired knowledge during the learning process.

The world language program

The current educational infrastructure does not do justice to the need for learning processes of gifted children. A lot has been published about the “what” and the structure of “what” should be learned. Such as the intended competencies, higher goals, especially through Bloom (taxonomy). Theory enough. But how should you shape challenging learning processes? Now many gifted individuals are decisive for their attitude to the learning process, that you can indicate WHY they should learn that. Rule 1: what do I get out of it. So what can I do with it in the future. That is why we have thought of the challenge of being able to communicate with the vast majority of the world in their own language with some knowledge of cultural, historical and geographical backgrounds. The 6 most important world languages: Russian, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic and English. Learning to communicate in a meaningful way by learning through play, an action point system and with constant positive feedback. This is done with peer groups in a lesson program that takes around 2 hours a week and can take place on location. Moreover, these are learning processes that do not conflict with what is being done in current education – at school.Every gifted person who completes the learning processes will then be a true future world citizen.

Memory Games

A series of three connecting memory games in a foreign language (Russian, Hindi, Arabic), that is our maximal learning minimal energy games. Finalist at the European competition of game based learning on October 3 in Odense (DK) at the ECGBL2019 conference.

With this we focus on activating “unconscious learning of foreign languages” supplemented with specific moments of reflection via kahoot.

The learning concept behind it is that minimal learning energy is required, because it concerns words that you already know, without knowing it. The identical words. An example is 2 cappuccino where you put two fingers in the air: with that you get 2 cappuccinos in both China and Europe.

In this way you can very quickly learn a basic vocabulary in the foreign language, with which we transform “unconscious knowledge” into conscious knowledge. Playfully, without effort.

The memory games are also available through our digital store.
