Reading and writing in Arabic is difficult for someone with a non-Arabic background. This is because the writing differs considerably. Arabic grammar also differs from most Western languages. In 1973, Arabic was officially recognized by the United Nations as the sixth language. In addition to Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, French and Spanish are also official languages of the United Nations.

Russian uses a variant of the Cyrillic alphabet. This is a very old alphabet, invented by missionaries Cyril and Methodius in the 9th century when they wanted to bring Christianity to the Slav peoples. The current form dates from 1918.

Russian is the official language of the Russian Federation and one of the working languages ​​of the UN. In many states of the former Soviet Union and in Eastern Europe, Russian has remained important because of the great Russian influence.
